International CIP Conference
About this Event
This international conference is the first of its kind to draw together a wide range of academic researchers from a number of UK and international universities across the field of volunteers in policing and public safety. The conference will be of interest to academics, to those who volunteer in policing, to policy makers and to those who support and manage the delivery of volunteering across policing and public safety.
Leading academic Ross Wolf will open the conference with a keynote lecture, establishing a platform for an exciting and vibrant dialogue on volunteerism in policing and public safety. Dr. Wolf has 28 years of experience as a law enforcement officer. He has engaged with law enforcement agencies throughout the United States and in the Caribbean, the United Kingdom, Russia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
The conference is supported by a grant from the Economic and Social Research Council to improve the connectivity between UK and Japanese social science, arts and humanities research communities, strengthening a global network of academics, practitioners and policymakers whose focus is volunteering in policing and public safety. The project team includes Dr Matthew Callender, Dr Laura Knight and Dr Iain Britton from the Institute for Public Safety, Crime and Justice, Dr Kimihiro Hino from the University of Tokyo and Dr Mamoru Amemiya from the University of Tsukuba. During the day there will be several inputs which link to this project.
