Job Location: Ukraine -Kyiv
Job Summary:
As the Safety Advisor- Central-West, you will have a unique opportunity to work in a close-knit team giving security analysis and advice that is vital to the efforts of the NGO community to deliver aid. You will explore local dynamics and develop an understanding of what is relevant to NGOs seeking to inform strategic decision-making and programming. You will be outgoing and resilient, with the ability to analyse complex issues and contexts, give practical safety and security advice, and share INSO’s commitment to humanitarian principles.
This position is based in Kyiv, Ukraine with travel in the country and reports to the Deputy Director.
Main Responsibilities:
Provide NGOs with safety information and contextual analysis of the local operating environment through alerts and analytical reports.
Facilitate and lead regional NGO roundtables.
Assist NGOs in developing their own safety management capacities by reviewing policy documents, conducting site surveys, and assisting in crisis planning.
Manage two small office teams, in Kyiv and Lviv.
Effectively represent, promote and protect INSO’s mandate of independence, impartiality and neutrality.
Requirements
Essential:
Graduate level education in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
Proven writing, editing, and analytical skills and the keenest eye for detail.
Experience in insecure/conflict-affected environments.
Personal and professional resilience in a fast moving, high output, quality-driven program.
Experience in the humanitarian, and/or risk management and/or humanitarian access sectors.
Independent drive, motivation, and excellence, and ability to operate and sustainably manage staff and teams under strict systems and deadlines.
Well-developed personal, organisational and team management skills and standards in a diverse multi-cultural setting.
Demonstrable understanding of humanitarian safety practices and principles.
Commitment to humanitarian principles and values.
Nice to Have:
Prior experience in Ukraine.
Ukrainian language skills
Experience with NGO security and/or project management.
Existing local information networks.

Terms and Conditions
12-month contract, €4,550 per month salary, €1,200 monthly housing allowance, 4 calendar days annual leave per month and 7 days of R&R every 3 months with €750 allowance each R&R cycle, global medical coverage (excluding USA), $200,000 AD&D coverage. The expected start date is 01 October 2023.
