Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and under the general supervision of the Head of
Mission:
✓ Ensure and manage the liaison between IOM staff and local authorities on matters
relating to the simulation exercise;
✓ Carry out a tabletop exercise with the regional and local authorities of Sikasso before the
exercise;
✓ Supervise and coordinate the drafting of a regional response plan by the
regional authorities before the exercise;
✓ Assist in the supervision and coordination of the preparation and implementation of the
exercise, including through missions in the Sikasso region
✓ Submit regular technical progress reports to assist in monitoring and
evaluating the exercise;
✓ Conduct safety liaison operations in accordance with the objectives of the
simulation exercise;
✓ In collaboration with IOM security assistants, ensure security during the exercise;
✓ Participate in team briefings on personnel protection and security issues for the
simulation exercise;
✓ Provide guidelines, instructions and support accordingly prior to the
simulation exercise;
✓ Carry out a site assessment, collect information, conduct reconnaissance and liaise
with all supervised security authorities, if applicable;
✓ write the final exercise evaluation report including the layout
✓ Perform any other tasks that may be assigned and ensure that all
information is delivered on time.

✓ Identifying priority activities and assignments; adjusts priorities as needed;
✓ Monitor and adjust plans and actions as needed
✓ Fluency in French (spoken and written) is required.

Qualifications and experiences:
✓ Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in military / security sciences
OR a combination of technical qualifications / experience in
military, gendarmerie or police procedures and practices
✓ Military / police training is required
✓ Minimum of 10 years Security experience at increasingly senior levels of responsibility within
a national or international organization
✓ Previous experience in crisis preparedness and crisis management is a distinct advantage
✓ Experience in physical security and management of security projects will be an asset High
level of IT practice.
