Job purpose
This role sits within our Confidential Crisis Response team. Our analyst team
supports Control Risks’ Response operations when our clients encounter situations of kidnapping-for-ransom, threat extortion and other crises.
Control Risks maintains the world’s largest database of kidnap-for-ransom
incidents, which underpins our industry-leading analysis. This internship will support the team with daily research focused on extortive crime, particularly in the Americas, data loading to ensure the operational integrity of the team’s analysis, and data cleansing to ensure the success of a critical IT infrastructure project as the team transitions to a new data platform. Spanish research skills will be essential.
Tasks and responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive research in English and Spanish to identify kidnap-forransom incidents.
Maintain our database of kidnap-for-ransom incidents, believed to be the most
comprehensive database of such crimes in the world.
Assist with updating database records of past cases to improve capability for
future operations.
Knowledge and experience
Preferred
An interest in international affairs, particularly security and the business environment.
Qualifications and Essential
specialist skills
Excellent verbal and written English.
Ability to understand and summarise large amounts of information.
Excellent word processing and excel skills.
Preferred
Able to research in other languages, preferably French.
